Denbies Wine Estate in Surrey is one of the largest wineries in England, with 265 acres currently under vines. Located in Dorking, the magnificent site has a production capacity of one million bottles and the first vines were planted on the estate in 1986.
The English Vineyard is so pretty that it is often used as a romantic wedding venue for intimate get-togethers and grand events. Fully licensed for civil ceremonies, it offers couples the perfect setting for photo ops, whether in the heart of the vineyard, the atmospheric cellars or the Pavillon des Cloîtres.
If you’re not a couple, the award-winning vineyard offers wine tasting tours to the public, which take place both indoors and outdoors. But it’s Denbies’ three restaurants that offer visitors the ultimate experience.

The Gallery restaurant is located on the third floor of the cellar overlooking Box Hill and the North Downs. It is open for lunch every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Conservatory Restaurant offers the perfect al fresco dining option year-round. Bright and spacious, the atrium is enhanced by an abundance of plants and a central water feature. It is open daily for lunch and afternoon tea.
The Vineyard Restaurant, however, has the real wow factor. The views from the floor-to-ceiling folding doors are stunning, especially when the sun sets over the rolling vines. It is open for dinner every evening from 6:30 p.m.
Menu items change seasonally, but diners can expect super fresh salads, fish platters and scrumptious desserts such as Eton mess and chocolate torte. Two lessons cost £27 and three lessons cost £34.
