Try “All on Red,” the pomegranate cocktail that won The Public House a prize of $ 10,000

BAY CITY, MI – The Public House menu now features an award-winning pomegranate cocktail.

The bar, located at 811 Adams St. in downtown Bay City, recently won a nationwide cocktail competition and a $ 10,000 prize for bartender Matthew Mitchell’s creation.

“Matthew Mitchell, one of our bartenders, told us that he encountered a cocktail competition on POM Wonderful that we should enter. We were also working on our new fall / winter menu at the time,” said Lyndsay Edmonds, owner of Harless + Hugh Coffee, The Public House and STAY Harless + Hugh.

“He said he would come up with the cocktail if we staged the photo for him,” she added. “Once he came up with the cocktail, we had to submit it to POM Wonderful and get the most votes, beating bars in Los Angeles, Miami and other big cities across the country.”

The winning cocktail was Mitchell’s ‘All on Red’, with 100% POM Wonderful pomegranate juice and fresh POM pomegranate arils, as well as tequila reposado, barley and ginger syrup and bitters. nuts.

“We don’t have a specific plan for the gains, after a pandemic year we have a lot of catching up to do like most restaurants / bars in the industry,” Edmonds said. “Our plan is to reinvest in The Public House, and we couldn’t be more grateful to the community for voting for us. They say it takes a village in business and I am so grateful to be a part of such an incredibly supportive community. “

Adam Cooper, senior vice president of marketing, The Wonderful Company, said the competition was meant to give back to bars as they recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The bar community played an important role in the debut of POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice, bringing the iconic POMtini and pomegranate margarita to life,” Cooper said in a statement. “With so many bars affected by COVID-19 closures, we wanted to rally with those who supported us.

“We were thrilled to see the community come together around Public House during the public voting portion of the contest, which won them one of ten $ 10,000 prizes. Congratulations again to Public House! “
